 2009-2010 Scholarships

Applications can be obtained in the guidance office unless stated otherwise.

*Nebraska School Counselors Association

  • Deadline – March 31st,  2010
  • Must attend a post-secondary institution during the 2010-2011 school year. Scholarship paid directly to institution.
  • Application should include essay on how a school counselor or school counseling program as assisted you to plan/decide/grow in an area of your life.
  • One $500 Award

 

*Faith Regional Volunteer Services of Norfolk

  • Two scholarship in the amount of $2000
  • Deadline – May 1, 2010
  • Applicant must be accepted into a nursing school program for fall term of 2010 – does not apply to LPN students

 

*Lueshen’s Birders

  • Deadline –April 24, 2010
  • Two scholarships in the amount of $250
  • Student planning to enter a biological field of study with special emphasis on wildlife and environmental conservation

 

*Lincoln Builders Bureau

  • $750 Scholarship
  • Applicant must be an employee of  Lincoln Builders or child of an employee and planning to enroll in the upcoming year at an accredited college or trade school with focus in construction science

  • Three $1000 Scholarships
  • Student planning to enroll at UNL in the fall of 2010
  • Deadline – April 9, 2010

 

*Thunder by the River

  • One student from Stanton HS will receive this scholarship
  • Deadline – March 22, 2010
  • Applicant seeking continued education at a university, college, technical or trade school of their choice with preference given to students seeking a degree in engineering or mechanics.
  • Applicant must have a minimum “C” average (2.0)

 

*Johnny Baxter Carriage House Foundation Scholarship

  • Deadline – April 2, 2010
  • Student planning attend a Nebraska community college in the fall of 2010 and planning to enroll of in an automotive related course of study.
  • Submit letter of recommendation, interview and reference letter from a New Car Dealer given additional consideration

 

 

 

 

Nebraska Legal Professionals Association

  • $1250 scholarship (Second Place scholarship of $750)
  • Student who wishes to pursue further education in law or legal support field, has GPA of 2.5.
  • Deadline – March 31, 2010

 

Steve Wemhoff Memorial Scholarship

  • $500 Award
  • Deadline – April 1, 2010
  • Selection based on academic ability, leadership, activities, financial need, personal and career goals, student must have at least a “B” average.

 

Pheasants Forever Scholarship Application – Maple Creek Chapter

  • Deadline – April 30, 2010
  • Two $250 scholarships
  • Student planning to pursue a career in wildlife management or soil conservation

 

Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship

  • $500 Scholarship
  • For students who plan to enroll in a Nebraska college or university and pursue one of the following fields: advertising, marketing, mass communications, communications studies, public relations, journalism, graphic design/desktop publishing
  • Deadline – April 15, 2010

 

UNK – Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Balanced Man Scholarship

  • $1000
  • Deadline – April 30, 2010
  • Applicants must be male and attending UNK in fall of 2010 – Applicants need not join Sigma Phi Epsilon

 

James M. Cox Foundation Scholarship

  • Deadline – April 15, 2010
  • $1000
  • Student must 2010 graduate with an academic indicating he/she will be successful in higher education, essays and letters of recommendation are considered.
  • Award is based on need

 

Association of Information Technology Professionals

  • Deadline – April 4, 2010
  • $1000
  • Available to student who plans to attend college in Omaha, Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa region and pursue an Information Technology related field

Nebraska Coaches Association Scholarship

  • Deadline – March 26, 2010
  • Student must be in upper 25% of class, two year participant in sports, earned varsity letter in two sports, include one letter of recommendation from a high school coach, have a minimum ACT score of 24

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LPGA-Marilynn Smith Scholarship

  • Deadline –April 30, 2010
  • Female student and high school student, played in a minimum of 50% of high school golf team’s scheduled events or played competitive junior golf “regularly” for the past two years
  • Have a minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Plan to play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States
  • Five scholarships in the amount of $5000 each.

 

LPGA – Dinah Shore Scholarship

  • $5000
  • Deadline – April 30, 2010
  • Female student and high school student, played in a minimum of 50% of high school golf team’s scheduled events or played competitive junior golf “regularly” for the past two years
  • Have a minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Plan to play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States

 

NECC McIntosh Davis/Chambers Scholarship

  • Deadline –April 1, 2010
  • Student planning to attend NECC, planning to transfer to a four-year Nebraska college or university after graduating from NECC, and demonstrates financial need

Education Quest Financial Literacy Scholarship

  • Learn money management skills and earn a chance to win a $500 scholarship!
  • EducationQuest encourages you to visit Financial Literacy Online - a free online learning center that will teach you the basics of personal money management. EducationQuest is partnering with NSLP to administer monthly drawings in which Nebraska high school juniors and seniors who complete a Financial Literacy Online course can win one of 26 $500 college scholarships!
  • To enter, you must successfully complete at least one course on Financial Literacy Online between November 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010. Students who complete more than one course will receive additional entries for each course successfully completed. Course topics include Budgeting, Contracts, Identity Theft and Financing Education.
