The District Meet was held in Stanton this past weekend

The District Meet was held in Stanton this past weekend where we took 6 out of 9 wrestlers to the state meet in Omaha to be held February 18th-20th with the finals set for Saturday afternoon on the 20that 2 p.m. We finished   5th out of 17 teams scoring 117 points with champions Planview and Howells tieing at 136.5 points. We appreciated Mark Christensen coming in and helping us out and all who worked the tables, the back room, and runners. We came out on fire Friday night winning all but one match for the evening and putting 8 of 9 in the semis. Jacob Bohac wrestled back picking up a win that really started our run. We finished the day by winning 4 out of 6 medal matches.

103 Freshmen Jake Betzen placed 4th by beating Brady Wurdeman of Winside 6-1 and then against Drew Smith EV ranked #1 in the state 9-0, then beat Thomas Fryklind AB by a pin, and lost to Corby Forbes PLA by a pin.
112 Freshmen Colby Wolff finished a great season by pinning Earnest Short of Clearwater, won 7-2 over Evan Aschoff PLA, and against Garrett Bowder PEN lost 8-0, and then lost by a pin to #6 rated Christian Gallardo by a pin.
119 Sophomore Mick Clausen finished 3rd  by pinning Tyler Thomsen Pender, won 4-1 over Zane Christensen NO, and then against Carter Tegeler EV ranked 2nd in the state by a pin, won over Austin Pittett PLA by a pin, and then won 11-4 over Sebastian Janseen EPP..
125 Junior Grant Nordby finished third by pinning Marcus Lewis AB and Riley Koeppe PON won by pin. Against Caleb Franklin OC lost 5-1 to the #1 ranked kid in the state, won 8-0 over Peter Hansen WIN, and pinned Zak Thompson PLA.
135 Freshmen Brennan Borgmann won by pinning Dylan Pesek Winside and in a big match against Robbie Thomsen PEN won 11-7. Then against Dalton Bevill PLA lost 8-3 and to go to state lost 2-1 to Sean Pilie OC to finish a great season.
145 Senior Paul Cheyney finished as District Champ by pinning Alex Ellison EV and pinned Jacob Nelson WAK. Then against Adam Burnheide HOW won by a pin, then against 3rd ranked Kevin Jacobson OC won 4-2 for the 5th time this year.
160 Freshmen Jeb Nordby finished 4th by winning in OT 3-2 over Brett Bahr Osmond and against Dalton Fletcher SS lost 3-0 to the #2 kid in the state, won 3-2 over Spencer Smith NO and lost to Nick Farmer EPP by a pin.
171 Junior Jacob Bohac finished a great tournament by wrestling a great match losing 6-1 to Jordan Nelson Winside, won 2-0 over Randy Kruse OSMand then against Steven Christensen PLA lost by a pin by not setting his hips to win the match.
189 Junior Bryant Borgmann finished District Champ by pinning Brandon Moes OSM and pinned Preston Smith NO. This set up a show down with #2 rated Dylan Heitoff EPP In the finals where we would win a 4-2 decision.
