JV Volleyball Falls to Clarkson

JV Volleyball Falls to Clarkson

The Mustang volleyball team traveled to Clarkson on Thursday night to take on the Red Devils.  Though the Mustangs started off strong going point for point with Clarkson, the Red Devils proved to be too strong.  Clarkson defeated the Mustangs into two straight sets, 19-25, 11-25.  Shannon Pestel finished the night with 4 kills, followed by Kyley Reese with 2 kills.  Aubrey Warnke and Shannon Pestel each served 2 aces on the night, and Allison Flood added one ace serve.  Kennedy Cheyney led the Mustangs defensively with 7 digs while Aubrey Warnke and Allison Flood finished with 4 digs each.    

 

JV Volleyball Team Posts a Victory

The Mustang junior varsity volleyball team took fourth place at the West Point tournament Saturday, October 3rd.  The Mustangs opened tournament action with strong play defeating Lyons-Decatur in three sets 17-25, 25-23, and 15-11.   Kyley Reese finished the match with 5 ace serves while several others added one.  Kyley Reese and Dasi Sieh each finished the match with 4 set assists.  Shannon Pestel finished the match with 4 kills and Allison Flood followed with 3.  Defensively, Allison Flood had 7 digs and Kyley Reese and Kennedy Cheyney added 4 each. 

In the second match, the Mustangs fell to the Howells Bobcats in two sets 18-25, 11-25.  Poor serve receive lifted the Bobcats to victory.  Kennedy Cheyney was all over the floor defensively, leading the Mustangs with 10 digs.  Dasi Sieh followed with 5 digs.     . 

In the last match of the day, the Mustangs dropped a tough one 25-20, 23-25 and 12-15 to the Dodge Pirates, taking home fourth place honors.  Kyley Reese had an impressive game with 2 ace serves, 9 kills, and 5 set assists.  Dasi Sieh led the team with 7 set assists.  Allison Flood and Missy Leaver each added 2 ace serves.  Missy Leaver also finished the game with 5 kills followed by Allison Flood with 3 kills.  Kennedy Cheyney once again led the Mustangs on the defensive side with 16 digs.  Allison Flood added 3 digs.  The Mustangs had nothing to hang their heads about, putting together impressive tournament play that will clearly fuel them in the coming games.  The Mustangs look to keep their improved play alive as they travel to Lyons-Decatur on Thursday night
