Mustangs Add One More Win to Record

 

            The Stanton Mustangs traveled to Randolph last Tuesday to play in the Randolph/Pierce/Stanton triangular.  The Mustangs played the Randolph Cardinals the first game of the night and gained another win for the season, winning in two sets, 25-23 and 25-15.   Leading from the service line was Dasi Sieh serving 13/13 and scoring 10 points.  Miranda Clausen and Whitney Heppner followed with 6/6 from the service line.  Sam Unger led in kills with seven, followed by Heppner and Clausen with two each, and Melissa Leaver, Shannon Pestel, and Tiffany Hendrickson each contributing with one kill.   Sieh led in set assists with eight.  Blocking for the game was led by Heppner with two solo blocks, followed by Pestel with one.  Leading defensively was Clausen and Kennedy Cheyney with sevens digs each. 

            The Mustangs then played the Pierce Blue jays for the second time this season.  The Blue jays would still dominate the court beating the Mustangs in two sets, 7-25 and 15-25.  Sieh would also lead this game from the service line with 8/8, one assist, and five points.  Sieh had three set assists helping Unger with her three kills from the net.  There were only two blocks for the Mustangs during the game, Unger and Melissa Leaver each had one block.  The defense against the hard hitting Blue jays proved to be tough as the Mustangs would only be able to dig up a total of six hits for the game.  Clausen and Cheyney each had two digs, followed by Sieh and Flood with one each.

            Last Thursday was Parents Night for the Mustangs and also the last time the Mustang seniors took the home court for volleyball action in Stanton.  The Howells Bobcats would be the opponent, beating the Mustangs in three sets, 13-25, 6-25, and 14-25.  The first set started out well for the Mustangs until Bobcat, Megan Chebuhar, came to the service line, serving twelve straight points to end the first set.  The Mustangs struggled with service receives by sending a game total of 27 to the target.  Cheyney would lead with twelve of those, followed by Unger with ten.  Sieh would again lead from the service line with 9/9 and four points, followed by Alyssa Estes with 7/7, and Clausen with 6/6.  Sieh had nine set assists for the game.  Unger led in kills with six, followed by Bernbeck with three and Clausen with two.  Sieh, Heppner, and Hendricksen had one kill each.  Heppner led with two solo blocks and two block assists, one with Unger and the other with Sieh.  Hendricksen would have one solo block for the game.  Leading defensively was Cheyney with nine digs, followed by Clausen with six, and Sieh with five.  The Mustangs will travel to Logan View this Tuesday to play in the Logan View/ North Bend/Stanton triangular.  These will be the last regular season games for the Mustangs as they will begin District play on Monday, November 2nd in Logan View.
