Mustangs Fall Short at Triangular

The Stanton Mustangs traveled to Logan View last Tuesday night for the Logan View/North Bend/Stanton Triangular. The Mustangs played the Logan View Raiders the first game. This was the second meeting between these two teams this season. The first time they met the Mustangs came out on top but this time the Raiders were prepared and beat the Mustangs in two sets, 14-25 and 21-25. Whitney Heppner was co-leading scorer from the service line, 6/6 with two ace serves and three points. Miranda Clausen was the other co-leading scorer, 6/6 with three points. Dasi Sieh and Kelsey Bernbeck followed with 4/4 from the service line. Dasi Sieh and Melissa Leaver both led in set assists with five each. Sam Unger led in kills with six, followed by Clausen with five. Defensively, the Mustangs were led by Kennedy Cheyney with ten digs, followed by Unger and Clausen with six each.
The Mustangs then faced the North Bend Tigers. After the loss to Logan View, the Mustangs had a hard time adjusting to the Tigers and lost in two sets 10-25 and 17-25. Allison Flood led from the service line with 7/6, followed by Clausen with 4/4. Dasi Sieh led in set assists with nine. Unger led in kills with five, followed by Heppner with two. Tiffany Hendrickson had a great game at the net blocking. She had a high game total of five solo blocks. Clausen led in digs with eight, followed by Cheyney with seven and Unger with six. The Mustangs head back to Logan View on Monday night to begin District play. Their first game will be against Oakland-Craig at 5:00 p.m.
