9/10 Boys Basketball

The junior Mustangs hosted a four team tournament on December 19 in Stanton, opening with a contest against Madison. The entire group gave a strong effort defensively, but cold shooting and some missed opportunities got the team in an early hole that they couldn't overcome. Despite a late push, Madison was able to hold on and get the victory 32-27. Offensively, even though we were able to get good scoring opportunities we had a hard time finishing. Madison's pressure defense gave us some problems and we forced some things against the press that we didn't need to. It was a good experience for our younger guys, but we have to learn to be patient in working the ball and cutting down on our turnovers.
The junior Mustangs rebounded in the consolation game with a 30-26
win over Wisner-Pilger. The team got off to a much better start and
was more aggressive throughout the game. We took advantage of the
the mismatches that we were able to find on the offensive end and
did a great job of winning the rebounding battle. Our younger guys
were again able to get valuable time under pressure in a close
contest, and found a way to get the win. Next up we host Howells on
Jan. 7, which gives the team a good opportunity over the next few
weeks to improve on taking care of the ball and getting good shots
on every possession.
