Wrestling Winside and Logan View

Winside “opens” up on Stanton with a dual win of 35-21. We would end up winning 6 of 10 matches, but gave up 18 points in opens. We wrestled some great matches , but also overlooked a couple of them and ended up losing. Jacob Bohac 171 bumped up and lost to Gatlin Jensen 6-3. Bryant Borgmann bumped up and won a 7-3 decision over Anthony Nelson. Jake Betzen lost 12-4 to Brady Wurdemann and a rematch from opening weekend. Colby Wolff continued with an impressive 9-7 win over Paul Hansen. Mick Clausen continued the streak with a 9-2 win over Levi Lange. Michael McCarthy at 125 came out and wrestled really well compared to last week, but lost by a pin. Grant Nordby lost to Ethan Thies 13-5. Brennan Borgmann started a string with a pin of Dylan Pesek. Paul Cheyney in a hard fought match won 7-2 over Forest Jones. Jeb Nordby rounded out the night with a 6-5 win over Brad Doffin.
We travelled to Logan View to wrap up the first leg of our journey. We finished 3out of 11 teams 11 points out of 2nd. We head into break needing to work on our conditioning, believing in our moves, and finishing our shots and stick to our game plan.
Jake Betzen at 103 finished 3rd losing to Michael Krueger DON by a pin, pinning Dustin Bartels SOU.
Colby Wolff at 112 finished 3rd losing to Wyatt Chapman NB 3-0 and beating Tylor reed SoU by a pin and John Heinz FC by a pin.
Mick Clausen at 119 finished 3rd losing to Austin kocina Lak 9-2, and winning by pins over Ross Hockensmith DON, Spencer Mink FC ,and Chuck Stierwalt SOU.
Michael McCarthy at 125 finished with losses to Oscar Ollana NB and Kyle Krueger DON.
Grant Nordby at 130 finished 2nd losing to Jacob Denton LAK 9-2 while winning by a pin over Chandler McCurdy NB and 10-2 over Zach Nelson MIL.
Brennan Borgmann at 135 finished 2nd losing to Shane Perrigo FC by a pin while winning 14-0 over Noah Blomendahl LV.
Paul Cheyney at 145 finished 2nd losing to last year’s state champ Kenny Chacon FC by a pin, while winning 5-1 over Adam Burnheide HOW and pinning Schulyer Sutton SOU.
Jeb Nordby at 160 finished 4th losing to Jake Shonka AQ twice by a pin and 12-4, he beat Jared Clark LV and Jeremy Gronenthal LAK by pins.
Jacob Bohac at 171 finished with losses to Ken Burkhardt Mil by a pin and 8-2 to Austin Hines NB.
Bryant Borgmann at 189 finished 2nd losing to Derek Mowinkel LV 15-3 while winning by a pin over Jared Kreikemeier NB and 2-1 over Jake Merrill DON.
