On Friday January 15th the mustangs’ basketball team traveled over to Tekamah and took on the tigers. The tigers come in on top of the East Husker Conference, the tiger start a line-up that has the shortest starter being 6’4”. “Rebounding and defending were going to be a big part of this game being undersized as the Mustangs were” stated Coach Brown. The Mustangs were fell behind early and had to battle back all game long. With two and half minutes left the mustangs were down seven points but were able to get no closer. Tekamah-Herman prevailed 67-57.
The Mustangs were led by Josh Herscheid with 20 points, Mark Tomka had 18 pts, and Spencer Nikolite had 10pts.

On Saturday January 16th, the Stanton Mustangs played Elkhorn Valley. Elkhorn Valley is a very much improved this season and is playing good basketball. The Mustangs were down four points at half time and were not able to over come the halftime deficit as they lost the game 73-57. “Elkhorn Valley shot the ball very well and we did not, as well as we didn’t defend or rebound like we needed too” commented Coach Brown.
The Mustangs were led by Josh Herscheid with 15 points, Spencer Nikolite had 13 pts, Mark Tomka 9 pts, Michael Beverly 7 pts, and Tate Erbst 6 pts.
