Football vs Crofton

Mustangs Lose in the Final Minute

Last Friday night the Stanton Mustang Football team lost to the Crofton Warriors 15-8. After a defensive battle in the first half, Stanton was behind 7-0. Stanton would score in the 3rd quarter when Cade Goger hit Beau Wilke on a 51 yard touchdown pass. The game would remain 8-7 deep into the 4th. After a Stanton turnover with a little over 3 minutes to go, Crofton was able to march the ball 35 yards for the go ahead score to make the game 15-8.

 “This was a tough loss for our team because we had played such a good game on defense. As a head coach, I need to put the kids in the best possible situations to be successful, they played a extremely hard for 4 quarters, but we just came up short in the end”, said Stoddard  .

The Mustangs were led on the ground by Gauge Erickson 5-26, Beau Wilke 3-21 yds,Cade Goger 3-4yds. Receiving leaders were Beau Wilke 1-51,  Sutton Pohlman 1-10 yds, and Gauge Erickson 1-8yds.  Junior quarterback Marcus Spotanski was 5-11 passing for 34 yards and Cade Goger was 1-1 for 51yds and 1 TD.

On the defensive side of the ball the Mustangs were led in tackles by Ashton Flood 15, Gage Erickson 12, Sutton Pohlman 9, Ben Wilke 7, Beau Wilke 6, Ben Hansen 6 , Cade Goger 5, Moorghan Prusa 5, Kadyn Fernau 4, and Alek Reese 2

The Mustangs will be home on the road next Friday as they travel to Ponca for a 7pm kickoff. We hope to have another great crowd on hand, as the continued support is very much appreciated.
