Mustangs Fall to North Bend

Last Friday night the Stanton Mustang Football team came up short against the North Bend Central Tigers 37-13. North Bend jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the second quarter, before senior quarterback Marcus Spotanski ran the ball in from 6 yards out. Junior Issiah Borgmann kicked the extra point cutting the lead to 17-7. Sutton Pohlman would intercept a tipped pass from Moorghan Prusa on the the next series and the Mustangs would drive to the North Bend 4 yard line, but could not convert a score before half. “We really did some good things in the first half, but knew we had to clean up some things that we could control going into the second half.” said head coach Dave Stoddard.

To start the second half, Stanton marched the ball down the field and Kadyn Fernau ran the ball in from 6 yards to make the score 17-13. Prusa would cause a fumble on the next North Bend possession and it would be picked up by Pohlman. The Mustangs would drive to the North Bend forty yard line, but could not convert on 4th down. The Tigers would than score on their next 4 possesions to open up their second half lead to 37-13.

"We had several opportunities to get back in the game and even take the lead, we will get back to work this week, as the kids are motivated to improve in all areas”, said Stoddard
