Mustang FB vs BC Braves

Mustangs fall short against Braves

Last Friday night the Stanton Mustang Football team lost to Battle Creek 54-7. Although the score appears to be a lopsided one, the Mustangs were leading with 1:22 to go before halftime. The Mustangs lone touchdown came in quarter 1 as Ben Wilke ran it in from one yard out. Brayan Acuna kicked the extra point. The Braves would score with seconds remaining in the 1st half  and Stanton went down 14-7 going into the break

To start the second half, Stanton picked up an early 1st down, but could not keep their first drive of the send half going. Battle Creek would than score on their next 4 possessions tallying a 27 point quarter. The Braves would tack on 14 more points in the 4th quarter as well. “We had to do a better job in all 3 phases of the game”, said Stoddard. “We gave up some big plays on Special Teams, Defense, and needed to clean up penalties on offense”, said Stoddard. All in all the Mustangs played hard throughout the game and saw glimpses of how productive and efficient they could be in all areas of the game, we simply just have to put four quarters together to earn a victory.

The Mustangs will be at home this Friday for a 6:30 pm homecoming kickoff. We hope to have another great crowd on hand for homecoming and are grateful for the continued support.
