Football Mustangs vs Crofton

Crofton defeats Stanton

Last Friday night the Stanton Mustang Football team lost to the Crofton Warriors 29-13. In once again a tale of two halves the Mustangs had several chances throughout the game to score and get stops, but unfortunately not enough plays were made on both sides of the ball to secure a win.

To start the game, Crofton scored on its opening drive and took a 7-0 lead. Stanton Freshman Jason Claussen would take the ensuing kickoff 85 yards and Stanton would tie the game on a Brayan Acuna PAT. The Mustangs would stop the Warriors again and Stanton would have a 3 play drive capped by Gage Tighe’s 51 yard touchdown run. Stanton would have 13-7 lead vanish in the last seconds of the first half as  crofton scored with 8 seconds to go taking a 14-14 lead into the half. “Both teams had a lot of opportunities in the first half, on Crofton’s second scoring drive , they completed two 4th down plays. We know we had to me more physical in the second half and play assignmentfootball”, said head coach Dave Stoddard.

Crofton would stop Stanton’s opening drive of the second half with a safety and would score a touchdown on their next possession. Stanton would be in the redzone two times in the second half, but failed to score on either trip. Crofton would tack on a another score making the  29-13.

The Mustangs will be on the road next Friday at Ponca for a 7pm kickoff. We hope to have another great crowd on hand and are grateful for the continued support.
